Make your own way to Kolarbyn Ecolodge near Skinnsbatteberg. You might go by car from Stockholm Arlanda Airport or Stockholm. You can also take the train from Stockholm Central Station for an 80-minute rail journey to Köping, and then enjoy a 50-minute bus ride to Skinnskatteberg, where an included taxi transfer will whisk you to Kolarbyn.

Alternatively, upgrade to enjoy a private transfer from Stockholm Central Station or Stockholm Arlanda Airport to Kolarbyn.

During your 3-night stay, you’re free to spend your time as you please, with no set itinerary apart from two guided evening wildlife safaris: a 5-hour Moose Safari with a campfire dinner on Day 2, and a 5-hour Beaver Safari by boat with a campfire dinner on Day 3.

Apart from dinner on Days 2 and 3, you’ll cook your meals at one of the firepits in the camp, using staples such as muesli, eggs and pasta, and outdoor cooking equipment available from the shared food shed. If you want fresh food items, you can stock up at a supermarket roughly 2 miles (3km) away. Fresh water is available from a pure forest well.

There’s no electricity or running water, and each hut comes with sleeping bags, a wood-burning stove, firewood, oil lamps and candles. Eco-friendly toilets are provided and when it comes to washing, it’s a case of dipping in the nearby stream or taking a sauna in the floating sauna hut followed by a plunge in the lake!
