Upon your arrival at Lhasa Gonggar Airport or Lhasa Newwu Train Station, your driver will greet and transfer you to the hotel of your own arrangement for better acclimatization. Your private guide will meet you at your hotel lobby to give a briefing on your itinerary. Rest for the rest of the day or stroll along the area at your leisure.

Day 2: Lhasa walking tour
Today, you will enjoy a full day of sightseeing in Lhasa on foot visiting Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple as well as vital neighborhoods around them. Potala Palace was named after Mt. Potalaka, the mythical abode of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara and a winter palace of the Dalai Lama since the 7th century. This iconic landmark of Lhasa symbolizes Tibetan Buddhism and its central role in the traditional administration of Tibet. The palace is a complex comprising the White and Red Palaces with their ancillary buildings built on Red Mountain in the center of Lhasa Valley with an elevation of of 11,483ft (3,700m).

Next, you will visit Jokhang Temple located on Barkhor Square. Jokhang Temple is considered the most revered temple in Tibet. The original name of the temple is Rasa Tulnang Tsuklakang or The House of Mysteries. Highlight of the temple is a 85-foot (26 meter) tall image of Buddha along with many other important Buddhist statues and images brought to Tibet as part of the dowries by wives of King Songtsän Gampo who constructed Jokhang Temple around 642 A.D.

At the end of the temple visit, you will also have an opportunity to shop at nearby market, Barkhor Bazaar, which is a crowd gathering place in the ancient section of Lhasa where local people shop.

Day 3: Lhasa sightseeing by private vehicle
This morning, you will visit Norbulinka Park by comfortable air-conditioned private vehicle. Norbulinka, the summer Palace of Dalai Lama, is situated on the west side of Lhasa by the banks of Kyichu River approximately 0.7 mile (1 kilometer) southwest of Potala Palace. Norbulinka, meaning “Treasure Park,” has an area of about 224 square miles (360,000 square meters) with 374 rooms regarded as the biggest man-made garden in Tibet Autonomous Region.

In the afternoon, you will visit Sera Monastery, which is a fifteenth century structure with sprawling golden roofs and whitewashed walls. This well preserved monastery is located approximately 3 miles (5 kilometer) North of Lhasa and home to several hundreds of lamas. Its famous daily monks debate starts at around 3pm and lasts to 4pm or so which is a must see activity when you travel to Tibet.

Day 4: Departing Lhasa
You will be chauffeured to Lhasa Gonggar Airport or Lhasa Newwu Train Station for wherever your journey takes you.
