Explore in approx. 3 hours the historic center and the highlights of Utrecht, such as the famous Dom Tower, the many hand-dug canals and wharfs, city hall, Neude square, St. John’s Church and the green strip, the Maliesingel.Your tour starts at Mariaplaats, a square dating back to the 11th Century. Nowadays this is the entrance to the historic city center and old is mixed with new, as can be seen by the many cafes and bars in the street.
Taste a locally produced chocolate and conquer the famous Dom Tower and its 465 steps. There, a guide will answer all your questions about the tower.
After the tower visit, walk along the canals and ingenious wharfs lead by the happily placed terraces on the water side. The majestic city hall rises high above the water and continues to represent Utrecht’s history.
Continue to the Neude square, which is a central square where students meet during day and night. The 1920’s neo-classicist post office has lost its function but still looks out over the partying students.
Swirling through the little streets of Utrecht, the St. John’s Church appears on another square, also housing several University faculties nowadays.
Then, the rest of the day is free to explore the ‘heart of Holland’ even further.
