Day 1 Uluru
On arrival at Ayers Rock Airport you will be transferred to your hotel.
This afternoon enjoy a leisurely drive out to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) for one of the best Sunset experiences in Central Australia. Along the way your Driver Guide will explain the geological and cultural history of the area. Marvel at the unique flora and admire the view of the central valley of the domes of Kata Tjuta while you take in a magnificent outback sunset with gourmet canapés and Australian wine.
Day 2 Uluru & Kata Tjuta (D)
Rise early this morning to travel to the Uluru sunrise viewing area. Watch the first rays of the sun set the Red Centre alight while enjoying a warming cup of tea or coffee. Then travel to the mystical 36 domes of Kata Tjuta. On the way enjoy panoramic views of the southern side of Kata Tjuta before arriving at the base of Walpa Gorge. Spend some time exploring the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations. The walking trail through Walpa Gorge follows the natural creek between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta. Return to Ayers Rock Resort.
Travel around the base of Uluru in the comfort of your coach as your Driver Guide provides commentary about the numerous sacred sites and features to be found at Uluru. Continue to the Kuniya Walk where your Driver Guide will escort you to the beautiful Mutitjulu Waterhole.
After your guided walk at Uluru and a brief visit to the Uluru & Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre you’ll head to the Uluru Sunset Viewing Area. On arrival you’ll be served from a selection of Australian wines and canapés while you absorb the enormity and beauty of your surroundings. As the sun sets over the western horizon, you’ll be witness to the majestic presence and many shades of color for which Uluru is famous.
After sunset, you will be transferred to your Aussie BBQ dinner. The site is within the Uluru National Park, outside the Uluru & Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre set among red sand dunes and desert oak trees providing a peaceful desert setting. Once at the site, you will be served a variety of Australian meats and salads, accompanied by a glass of sparkling wine, beer or orange juice (menus are subject to change). After dinner, you will be served tea, coffee and dessert and Your guide will conduct a tour of the night sky, describing and pointing out some of the visible constellations with the assistance of a high beam spotlight (weather permitting).
Day 3 Kings Canyon - Alice Springs (B)
An early start from Ayers Rock Resort should reward us with a magnificent desert sunrise en route to Kings Canyon. After stopping at Kings Creek Station for breakfast, make the rocky climb to the canyon rim (for those with a good level of fitness) for marvelous views of Watarrka National Park. Alternatively, you may wish to explore the boulder-strewn Canyon floor. Stop at Kings Canyon Resort to purchase lunch (own expense) before traveling to Alice Springs.
