Also do not miss this opportunity to visit both the beautiful Brown Bears in their natural habitat and the medieval towns of Brasov and Sighisoara with their narrow streets. Discover Transylvania with old fortresses and castles like Bran, Rasnov, Peles and explore the Romanian village life in Viscri.Day 1: Targoviste and Brasov: Start this tour by visiting the former royal residence from Targoviste where Vlad Tepes ruled. This is also the place where the battle from June 1462 took place between Vlad Tepes (Dracula) and Mehmed II the Sultan of Otoman Empire. The battle ended with the defeat of the Ottoman army and in honor of his victory, Vlad Tepes built Chindia Tower which can be visited today. Also visit in Targoviste the military unit where the former dictator Nicolae Ceausescu was judged and executed in 1989. Transfer to Brasov where you will enjoy a beautiful city tour to see the imposing Black Church, the walls of the old citadel, the First Romanian School. Overnight in Brasov at a 3* hotel.
Day 2: Sighisoara and Viscri: Today you will go further into Transylvania. The first stop is Sighisoara. The main attractions in the city are the Main Gate, The Clock Tower which is 64 meters high, the Medieval Weapons Museum and the Torture Chamber. It is known that here was the birth place of Vlad Tepes, who inspired the novel Dracula, by Bram Stoker. Walking along the wall that surrounds Sighisoara citadel you can admire the towers: especially the Shoemakers and Tailors Guild towers which are the most impressive. You will also visit the Church from the Hill but not before climbing the 175 covered steps which were built in 1642. Our next stop is Viscri (its name means white church in German) where you can see the wonderful Viscri Fortified Church, which is one of the most interesting Saxon fortified churches (a UNESCO World Heritage site), and has been visited five times by the UK's Prince Charles. Return to Brasov.
Day 3: Brown Bear Sanctuary, Bran Castle, Rasnov Fortress and Peles Castle: After breakfast depart from Brasov. Your first stop is at “Libearty” Brown Bear Sanctuary, established in 2005. From 2008 this sanctuary has been occasionally visited, but under strict rules meant to reintegrate the bears into their natural habitat and not to disturb them. “Libearty” Sanctuary is located just 2 km away from “Piatra Craiului” National Park. This lovely place covers an area of 69 acres of oak forest, streams and ponds and it’s the largest of its kind in the entire world. Most of the bears, used as a form of entertainment, were rescued from tiny cages and since the sanctuary was opened, over 80 bears have been saved and brought here to live in their natural habitat. After just 25 minutes we arrive in Bran village. There are over 50 castles, fortresses and fortified churches on these ancient lands. Discover the three most beautiful of all, Bran Castle – better known as Dracula’s Castle, Peles Castle – a former royal residence, an architectural jewel and the famous Rasnov Fortress – built in the 13th‐14th century, one of the best preserved peasant fortresses of Transylvania. In the evening, return to Bucharest.
