A three-day boat and bicycle tour that gives you hands-on experience of riverside life in this vast Mekong Delta region. Day 1: Cai Be Floating Market, Vam Cai Ga (-/L/D)
You will depart from Ho Chi Minh City to Tien Giang and travel for around 2 hours. Upon arrival in Tien Giang, you will travel by boat to Cai Be Floating Market. The boat trip will take you along to the Vam Cai River where you will have a glimpse into the lives of the working locals. You may even have a chance to see the fishermen casting their nets or placing bamboo shrimp traps on the river. You will have lunch at a local house.
In the afternoon, you will be able to try your hand at fishing with traditional tools by casting nets and laying traps on the river or canal. Then, you can help to prepare dinner with the host. Enjoy dinner and listen to the Southern folk songs in a warm atmosphere. You'll spend the night at the homestay.
Day 2: Live The Life Of Local People In The Countryside (B/L/D)
After breakfast, travel by bicycle to a local market called “Cho Chom Hom”. It is similar to a flea market where local people gather together and trade. You will return to the home-stay, where you will participate in farming with the local people to experience the work of farmers in the area. Lunch will be served at a local home.
In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to dress in “ba ba” and “non la” clothing, the typical style of South Vietnam. We then bail out water and catch fish in their traditional outfits. Next, you will lend a hand in preparing dinner with the host. Relax after dinner on a hammock near the river shore, surrounding yourself with peacefulness and quiet that the city cannot provide. Overnight at the home-stay.
Day 3: Cai Mon Orchard Garden (B/L/-)
Cai Be Floating Market, approximately two hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City, is considered one of the most exciting and interesting destinations in the Mekong Delta. This boat tour is the perfect way to learn more about life in the delta. Fishing is part of everyday life here and you will have a chance to see the local fishermen in action and learn about their methods.
We will have lunch at a local home, and afterward, take a bike to visit the Cai Mon Orchard Garden, also known as the “kingdom of fruits”, in Ben Tre Province, where you will see fighting roosters. Continue your trip to visit the Cai Mon Church, one of the oldest churches in the Mekong Delta. The last stop on this tour is the potted plants and saplings in Vinh Bac.We then take you back to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh.
