All this as you listen to tales of Celtic myths and legends before a couple of great nights in a Highland pub. Then there is the star of the show - the beautiful Isle of Skye.Day 1: Edinburgh to Loch Ness- departs 8.30am. Leave Scotland's capital crossing the Forth Road Bridge and make our way through Macbeth country to Dunkeld with its mighty Cathedral. Then onto a Highland whisky distillery to sample the ‘Water of Life’ and discover how Scotland’s favourite tipple is made. Journeying on through Inverness, capital of the Highlands, we follow the entire length of Loch Ness, searching for a glimpse of the legendary beast. Fort Augustus on the shores of Loch Ness is home for the night.
Day 2: Isle of Skye- today explore the ‘winged isle’ or ‘Isle of Mist’ with its ruined castles, breath-taking scenery and home to the legendary MacLeod and MacDonald Clans. Immersed in Celtic myths and Viking legends, explore the windswept landscape, stunning coastline and dramatic mountain ranges before passing the beautiful Eilean Donan Castle.
Day 3: Loch Ness to Edinburgh- leaving the Great Glen pass under the shadow of Ben Nevis and the route south takes you through the stunning Glencoe (used as a backdrop in Skyfall and the Harry Potter movies). Head past Stirling, scene of many of Scotland’s most famous and bloody battles in the Wars of Independence. Hear of local legends such as William Wallace and Robert the Bruce before your return to Edinburgh at approximately 5pm.
