You will be collected from your hotel at 7:30am and along the way, have lunch in a local restaurant. We then leave the main road to take a smaller one, snaking through the mountains and tea plantations to arrive at Hua Ma Cave. Take some time to visit the cave and swim in Silk Waterfall before heading to the Tay village of Bo Lu. The Tay people make their living by fishing as well as rice and corn cultivation, and they are renowned for their picturesque stilt houses. In Bo Lu you will enjoy the hospitality of your guide Mr Linh and his friendly family, who reside in one such traditional house. Duck out to discover spectacular rivers, deep valleys, natural caves and undulating mountains. Return to a superb dinner of local specialties cooked by your hosts.
Day 2 Trekking In National Park (B, L, D
Get ready for a great day of trekking!! Your local guide will first take you to visit the Coc Toc village where the Tay people live by fishing. After crossing the Pelu stream, you will then have some rough terrain to navigate, but as you gain elevation your efforts will be rewarded by spectacular views. Going on further to the highlands where we will stop to visit a Hmong ethnic community where we will have a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, the guide will take you through the mountains and valleys to see the stilt houses and school of the Cash Dao people, continuing on the trail to visit another Hmong ethnic village. Return to your homestay accommodation for dinner and a rest.
Day 3 Ba Be Lake - Puong Cave - Ha Noi (B, L)
After breakfast at the homestay, we will go on foot to Bo Lu boat station and take a 3 hour boat trip, gently chugging around the lake. If you need to cool off, do as the local kids do and just jump into the river for a swim. As the boat takes you by the slow flowing river, gaze in awe at the dramatic mountains and valleys and natural caves and enjoy a little bird and butterfly spotting. The national park is home to countless numbers of flora and fauna. Drift through Puong Cave with its thousands of stalactites, stalagmites as well as spooky atmosphere with its resident bats. We'll then head back to Hanoi, where you can rest your legs, stopping for lunch at a local restaurant on the way. We should arrive in Hanoi at about 5:30pm and you will be dropped off at your hotel.
