This 3 day 4WD adventure will showcase the beautiful northern province of Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai. With 2 nights’ accommodation and meals included, you can ride an elephant, take a bamboo raft to the river, meet the Lisau and Akha Hilltribes and visit the infamous Golden Triangle.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Chiang Mai to Palong (L,D)
Enjoy an early morning as you are collected from your Chiang Mai hotel by 4-wheel-drive and head to an orchid farm and a working elephant camp. You will have an opportunity to take an elephant ride through the jungle followed by an ox-cart.
Then it’s time to take to the river for an exciting bamboo rafting adventure. A local lunch will be enjoyed before continuing by road to the Palong hilltribe village.
Dinner will be taken at the village followed by traditional song and dance performances. Stay overnight in a simple bamboo cottage. Overnight: Palong village
Day 2: Palong to Chiang Rai (B,L,D)
Enjoy breakfast in the Palong village and afterwards drive to Chiang Dao Cave with over 12 miles of underground passages and caverns. After exploring, you can enjoy a well-earned lunch.
In the afternoon visit the Lisu and Akha Hilltribes, before driving to Doi Mae Salong to see the Chinese refugee village. Arrive in Chiang Rai late afternoon and transfer to your hotel. Settle in for some relaxation before dinner.
Overnight: Chiang Rai
Day 3: Chiang Rai (B,L)
Enjoy breakfast in the hotel before visiting the beautiful King’s Mother Garden. Move on towards Mae Sai, the northernmost part of Thailand and spend some time at the infamous Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Laos, and Burma come together.
Take a boat ride along the Mekong River to ancient Chiang Saen and enjoy lunch before transferring to Chiang Rai Airport.
