In the morning your private transportation and tour guide will pick you up at your hotel in Granada.

After a short 20 minutes drive to the base of Mombacho Volcano, your 4x4 vehicle will take you to the top of the volcano at about 1,100 meters high above sea level. After a brief introduction about this volcano and natural reserve you will start a hike through the short trail that takes you around an extinct crater full of vegetation at this time. During this tour you will experience a close contact with nature, if you're lucky even howler monkeys or sloths could be seen. You will enjoy gorgeous views of the city of Granada and Lake Nicaragua from some of the lookouts around the trail and will also see some smoke coming up from the earth.

After the hike on the trail, your 4x4 vehicle will take you to one of the most renowned local coffee farm, where you will enjoy a delicious typical lunch. In the afternoon your transfer will take you to the artisan town of Catarina, a little town famous for the impressive lookout from where you can see Apoyo Lagoon a deep blue water lagoon inside a huge crater, who hundreds of thousands years ago was one of the most active volcanoes in the world, and now its beautiful color and clear waters make it perfect for diving, kayaking and swimming.

And at the end of your afternoon your visit to one of the most active volcanoes in Nicaragua awaits you. After a short drive from Catarina you will arrive to Masaya Volcano National Park, your tour guide will explain you at the very complete information center all the history and important facts of this protected area. Then your vehicle will drive you to the top of the volcano just about 600 meters high above sea level, enough to appreciate the great smoking crater Santiago, which last eruption activity was in 2012.

At the end of the day your private transportation and tour guide will take you back to your hotel in Granada.
