You'll visit the the University of Leiden, the oldest in the country. Founded as a gift for the people of the city for their steadfast resistance against foreign oppression during the Dutch War of Independence. Finally, Leiden has beautiful canals and Golden Age architecture similar to Amsterdam, but smaller and quieter.
There is a possibility to take a break in a local cafe (own expense). The tour finishes at the old fortress (de Burcht), close to many cafes and restaurants. Your guide will also be happy to show you the way back to the station.
