Experience the three biggest rapids of Kitka River on this 2-hour river rafting tour in northern Finland, near Oulanka National Park.At the start of your tour you will meet your guide near the village of Juuma by Oulanka National Park, where you are given all the equipment needed, including a rain coat and pants, rubber boots, helmet and life vest. Your guide will give you safety instructions before heading off to the river.
This tour allows you to experience the three biggest rapids of river Kitka and admire the biggest one, Jyrävä, from shore. River rafting will continue by smaller rapids to Vattumutka. After the rafting trip you will hike approx. 300 meters (984.3 ft) back to the car. After this there will be a transfer back to starting point in Juuma village.
White water classifications on this route vary between III-V, 3-5; the existing classification ranges from I to V, 1-5. Jyrävä rapids are classified as V and will be passed on foot. The walking part is short but the terrain consists of both uphill and downhill. The equipment such as the paddles will be carried by the guests and guides and the raft will pass Jyrävä rapid on its own.
Transfers from accommodations in Ruka and Kuusamo are available at an extra cost.
