Tiny white cottages and brightly colored wooden boats dotted along the beach and fishermen hoping for a bounty of snoek or kreef (crayfish) with their next catch. During early spring, the land becomes a vast carpet of wild flowers, stretching over the veld in enormous splashes of yellow, orange, blue and white.
Day1:
Throughout your journey, your guide will provide informative commentary and can recommend great places for meals along the tour.
En route to Jacobsbaai you will stop for a relaxed walking safari in the West Coast National Park. Follow wildlife on foot in this bird lovers kingdom. Thousands of seabirds nest on sheltered islands and feed from the Langebaan lagoon’s life-giving turquoise waters. Herds of eland, springbok, kudu, gemsbok and rare mountain zebra graze on the strandveld, embroidered with a tapestry of multi-hued flowers during spring. (Flower season is usually late July to September)
Next up, its wine tasting on the Swartland Region - located inland and surrounded by gold-hued wheat and canola fields and set against the Darling Hills. This is a true wine-maker community, so if you’re up for a tasting adventure in the countryside, then the West Coast wine farms’ produce will certainly pop your cork.
Sample a selection of slow brewed craft beers at an established microbrewery in the quaint farming town of Darling enroute to Jacobsbaai. Overnight in Jacobsbaai.
Day 2:
Discover Paternoster - a rustic seaside village famous for its wide and open plains, seafood, beaches lined with fishermen’s cottages and boats. Mountains and fields burst into a kaleidoscope of colourful wild flowers in early spring and dolphins and whales are regularly spotted in the aquamarine West Coast waters. Walk along or experience the beauty of Paternoster on horseback with the optional horse ride (own account) along vast stretches of sandy beaches.
The West Coast is known for their abundance of delectable seafood - fresh from the ocean. Try some of local cuisine on a seafood taste experience. A variety local meal tasting options are also available if you do not like seafood.
A quick stop at iconic Bloubergstrand, directly translated as ‘blue mountain’, for a stroll along the shore to catch a classic view of the blue hued Table Mountain across the bay, and then arrive back in Cape Town by early evening.
