This 2-day tour is a great option for those who don't have much time to visit Machu Picchu and want to arrive in a more leisurely fashion than trekkers. You will take the train departing from Ollantaytambo or Poroy station in Cusco (depending on the availability) and have one of the most incredible train journeys in the world, until you reach the magnificent site of Machu Picchu.
Day 1:
You will be picked up from your hotel in Cusco (AT 09:00AM) and taken to the train station. The train leaves at 11:30am (time may change depending on availability and changes to timetable). After a 3.5-hour journey of incredible views, you will reach the town of Aguas Calientes (Hot Springs Town) where you will spend the night. You have plenty of time to relax and spend at your leisure. You may want to take a hot bath in the natural springs or visit the Machu Picchu 'Manuel Chávez Ballón' museum and orchid exhibition. It is open from 9am to 4:30pm, and it is a 35-minute walk down the road from Aguas Calientes to Puente Ruinas.
Day 2:
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel (5:40am) and you will take the bus up to Machu Picchu to catch the sunrise. Then, you will enjoy a 2-hour guided tour at the site and, after this, you can explore the mysterious city on your own. After a fulfilling time in Machu Picchu, you will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes, where you will enjoy lunch and then board a train back to Ollantaytambo. Upon your arrival at the train station, you will be picked up and taken back to your hotel in Cusco.
