A two day excursion, staying overnight at the River Kwai Resotel, which will incorporate time spent at The Bridge over the River Kwai, visting the POW Cemetary of Kanchanaburi, riding the train over part of the 'Death Railway' and going to Hellfire Pass and more.
This overnight stay in the Kanchanburi province is designed to give you a real understanding of the history of the area and the harsh extremes people had to go through in the War. With one nights accommodation and meals also included this is a perfect tour for anyone that has enough time to see this great region.
Day 1 (Lunch and Dinner)
6-6:30am: Pick up from major hotels in the Bangkok downtown area.
9am: Arrive Kanchanaburi province (about 128kms west of BKK)
Visit Thailand–Burma Railway Centre. This an interactive museum, information and research facility dedicated to presenting the history of the Thailand–Burma Railway. Designed to be an educational and moving experience.
Visit Allied War Cemetery which is a memorial to some 6000 allied prisoners of war (POWs) during WWII who perished along the railway line, that later became known as 'The Death Railway'. Post-war these POW's were transferred to this eternal resting place.
Visit the world famous Bridge over the River Kwai, a part of Death Railway constructed by Allied POWs.
12pm: Take a long–tailed boat on the River Kwai to River Kwai Resotel. Check–in and have Lunch upon arrival.
2:45pm: Take a long–tailed boat upstream to visit nearby ethnic Mon Tribal Village & Temple. The Mon people are an ethnic group from Myanmar, living near the Thai-Myanmar border. The Mon were one of the earliest peoples to reside in Southeast Asia and have a great history. We then return to the hotel
7pm: Dinner, followed by a 45-minute presentation of Mon Dance and overnight stay at the River Kwai Resotel
Day 2 (Breakfast and Lunch)
7am: Breakfast.
8:30am: -Take a long–tailed boat downstream to Resotel Pier and continue down the road to visit the Hellfire Pass Memorial. Hellfire Pass is the name of a railway cutting on the former Burma Railway, the 'Death Railway', which was built by the Allied POWs during the Second World War, The pass became infamous due to the harsh conditions and heavy loss of life suffered by its labourers during construction
11am: Check-out of hotel
11:40am: Lunch at local restaurant.
1pm - Take a historic ride on Death Railway Train passing over original wooden viaduct constructed by Allied POWs
2:30pm: Journey back to Bangkok.
6pm: Arriving in Bangkok and transferred to your hotel
