Itinerary
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City - Mekong Delta
We depart from Ho Chi Minh City for a two-hour drive to Cai Thia ferry station, we will cross the river by ferry and take a short walk to the Cai Thia brick factory. Our trip continues by boat to a small island where we will visit a local home and see how they make rice paper. We then pick up some bikes and ride around the island (about 12km of country road). On the way we will stop to visit a local family to see how they make Banh Tieu - a type of cake made from wheat and potato flour – a local delicacy. After two hours of biking, we head back to the boat and travel downstream to our home stay to check in and have lunch. After lunch, we will try our hand at fishing using traditional Vietnamese methods to catch our dinner. In the evening you will be able to help in cooking duties if you wish to with the house owners. We then enjoy dinner with a cup of tea and rice wine. Overnight at home stay.
