Day 1: Hanoi City Hotel - Mai Chau Valley - Lac Village; Thai and Muong Ethnics (-/L/D)
You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Mai Chau located in Hoa Binh Province, approximately 84 miles from Hanoi. You will zigzag along Cun slope through Cao Phong District to the Mai Chau Valley. From the top of the Cun Mountain, you can admire the superb panoramic view of Mai Chau surrounded by its green valleys and stilt houses. Mai Chau is the home of many ethnic groups, including the White Thai Ethnic group. Enjoy a traditional lunch and if you are game, have a taste of the country's finest rice wine with a local family.
Afterward, you will take a bicycle trip around the village to see farmers working in the fields and the locals weaving scarves. You will also visit the tranquil surrounding villages to see the rustic life of these mountainous people. You will enjoy dinner at a local family and enjoy a drink of traditional alcohol known as “ruou can." You'll enjoy a unique artistic performances of ethnic Thai and Muong residents of Mai Chau. You'll will spend the night in stilt houses in Lac Village.
Day 2: Poom Cong Village - Chieu Cave – Hanoi (B/L/-)
The early morning is the most peaceful time to walk around the village and see the sunrise over the beautiful mountains. Following breakfast at Lac Village, you will walk about 4 miles (7km) to Poom Cong Village and the Chieu Cave where you'll enjoy the panoramic views of the Valley of Mai Chau. You will have lunch and have some time to relax before heading back to Hanoi.
