Enjoy this two days escorted tour from Chengdu to Emei Mountain (Emeishan) by high-speed train as well as Leshan Giant Buddha. You will visit Emeishan - Golden Summit (10,102 ft/3,079 m) and hike the poetic mountain trails from Wannian Monastery - Qinyin Pavalion. At 7:00am, your guide will pick you up from your hotel lobby and head out to catch the high-speed train for Emeishan. During this 1 hour and 40 minutes comfortable train ride, you can mingle with locals and enjoy the idyllic landscape of the Chengdu. Upon arrival, you will take a tour bus to Leidongping parking lot (about 1.5 hours) and then hike 30 minutes to catch the cable car going up to Emeishan Golden Summit.
On Golden Summit (10,102 ft/3,079 m above sea level), you will see a giant gold plated bronze statue of Puxian Buddha which is 158 feet (48 meters) tall and weighing 1,455,050 pounds (660 tons). It is the tallest gold plated Buddha statue in the world. Behind the statue, there are 3 buildings - gold, silver, and bronze palaces housing more exquisite Buddhist statues. Lunch will be served on the summit.
After lunch, you will take the cable car and bus all the way down to the Wannian parking lot and then hike about 40 minutes to Wannian Monastery. On the way to the monastery, you will pass through tea fields and villages. Wannian Monastery was established in 401AD hosting Buddha Samantabhadra Statue which is over 1,000 years old and a highlight. It weighs over 136,687 pounds (62 tons) and stands almost 26 feet (8 meters tall). Furthermore, the architecture of Wannian monastery is as impressive as its history. For over 400 years, it has survived more than 18 earthquakes unscathed. After Wannian Monastery, you will walk along the old path (about 1.5 hours) to Wuxiangang parking lot, take tourist bus back to mountain foot. Overnight accommodation is near Baoguo Monastery
Day2: Emeishan - Leshan Giant Buddha - Chengdu
Check out of your hotel in the morning,drive about 40 minutes visit Leshan Giant Buddha.It is a 233 feet (71 meter) tall sand stone statue, built during 713 AD-803 AD. It is carved out of a cliff facing the confluence of three rivers. It is the largest Buddha statue in the world. You will first climb 300 steps to the top of Lingyun Hill. On the hilltop, you will be able to see three rivers confluence in front of Giant Buddha and explore Buddhist sculptures and murals inside of Lingyun Temple. Then, descend along the red sand cliff to view the phenomenal Leshan Giant Buddha from his feet.
Later, your guide will lead you to the much less traveled path to an old fishing village for lunch which is at your own expwnse. Sit next to the banks of Min river and have an authentic local meal. After lunch, cross the elegant Haoshang Bridge,hike 20 minutes to Wuyou temple,which has been slightly neglected in the past and thus retained its tranquil Buddhist atmosphere.
In late afternoon, you will be transferred back to the train station and catch the high-speed train back to Chengdu. Your guide will escort you back to your hotel where this tour concludes.
