Your tour begins with an overview driving tour of the city's central historic region You will see or have photo stops for: St. Nicholas Cathedral, Theater Square,
Mariinski Theatre, St. Petersburg Conservatoire, monuments to Rimsky-Korsakov and Glinka, Yusupov Palace, - the Bronze Horseman monument, Menshikov Palace, St.Petersburg University, Admiralty, the main street Nevsky Prospekt, photo stop Sphinx, Kazan Cathedral, Gostinni Dvor, Alexandriinski Theatre, Anichkov Bridge with its 4 famous statues, The Rostral Columns, the monument to Catherine the Great just to mention a few.
St Isaac Cathedral, for an inside visit, one of the largest in the world.
As a contrast, you can visit a 19th century food market in an historic neighborhood featured in Russian novels.
A break for lunch followed by an inside visit to the fabulous Winter Palace, the Hermitage museum, and see the most interesting of the 1005 rooms that are open to the public.
Next is a canal and river cruise that allows some of the best photo opportunities and unique views of the city.
Inside visit to Church on Spilled Blood The building has become one of the most photographed in Russia. The exterior is a wonder but the interior leaves many speechless, every inch is covered with detailed intricate mosaics.
Return to the ship
Day 2, we journey to the town of Pushkin where Catherine Palace is located. Magnificent Catherine Palace, including the famous Amber Room. almost ¼ mile wide set in
the fairytale grounds of Imperial Park.
A break for lunch
Your small group will travel to another southern estate, Peterhof, which is a complex of smaller palaces and a large Grand Palace, for thorough exploration of the
stunning Fountain Park, gardens, ponds and smaller palaces.
Return to St Petersburg you will have a chance to ride the famous Metro subway system , the Palaces of the People” each individual in design and style. The marble, stone statuary, bronze or other metals, ceramics and tiles make make the Metro system an attraction all of its own. You ride between several stations before returning to the port about 1 hour before departure, tired, happy and already missing your new friends in St Petersburg.
