Come to the panda city! Let's live like a panda, cozy and relaxing!
In the morning, meet your guide at your hotel lobby and then drive out of Chengdu downtown to Panda Breeding Center. You will spend the whole morning to explore this panda wonderland. Your guide will try the best to take you to the less traveled path and avoid crowds as well as give you insight information about pandas.
Chengdu Panda Breeding Center locates on a hill which is like a lovely garden with bamboo forests, swan lake, and lush trees making your visit much more pleasant. At the beginning, you will see adult pandas. If you keep walking uphill, you will see one of the super stars juvenile pandas (teenagers). There are 5 to 7 teenage pandas (about 3 years old) live in the big open enclosure. On top of the hill, there is a panda kindergarten, where you will see the most adorable panda babies! Sometimes, they drink milk, sometimes they eat bamboos, sometimes they fight, sometimes they climb the trees, and sometimes they sleep....very unpredictable! In addition to giant pandas, you will see endangered red pandas as well. They belong to raccoon family with long tail and beautiful red fur. At the end of panda trip, you will visit the museum to learn more about pandas.
After visiting Panda Breeding Center, you will be transferred to historical Wenshu Monastery. The ancient architectures are well preserved where you will find inner peace once you step inside. Outside of Wenshu Monastery there is an old neighborhood with a local market which is a great area to walk around. For lunch which is at your own expense, your guide will take you to try either authentic Sichuan dishes, Buddhist vegetarian meal, or famous Sichuan hotpot!
After lunch, take metro from Wenshu Monastery to People's park which is an oasis in the cement forest of Chengdu. You will sit in bamboo armchairs and enjoy a cup of jasmine tea in a traditional tea house while mingling with the locals to experience laid-back Chengdu life. Inside the park, there are many activities going on such as dancing, singing, and match making!
After the People's Park, a short walk of 15 minutes will take you to Kuan-Zhai Alleys (Wide-Narrow Alleys). It is a landmark of Chengdu, an area with a long history. Here, you can see the historical remains of the old Chengdu city and experience authentic local leisure life style. Once you walk into it, you will step into the most local and ancient yet international and stylish part of Chengdu. Your guide will also take you to check out a nearby local food market, where you will see all kinds of cooking spices, local vegetables, and fruit. This city tour will conclude around 4pm and your guide will escort you back to your hotel or any places in downtown you wish to visit.
